CHRISTIAN PAVLAKIS
AS I FACE A BLANK CANVAS, I LOOK THROUGH STACKS AND STACKS OF MY SKETCHES, SOME BEING COMPLETE DRAWINGS, AND OTHERS SIMPLY TWO LINES WHOSE PLACEMENT TOGETHER I FIND INTRIGUING. I ENJOY CONVEYING THESE SKETCHES ONTO ANY SIZE CANVAS. I AM COMFORTABLE WORKING ON SMALL PIECES AS WELL AS 10 TO 12 FOOT PAINTINGS.
I BEGAN PAINTING OIL ON CANVAS A THE AGE OF 10. AT FIRST, MY SUBJECTS WERE STILL-LIFE AND LANDSCAPES, THEN I QUICKLY BEGAN TO EXPERIMENT WITH MY OWN IMAGES.
THEREIN LIES THE CHALLENGE OF MY WORK, TO REINTERPRET A CLASSIC POSE OR ACTION AND CONVEY IT ON CANVAS IN A BOLD AND DISTINCTIVE STYLE.
